Issue #21 ft. Nocturnal Tapes (NSW), Beloved Elk (Melbourne), Chrome Pony (Nashville, TN), Sofia Härdig (Sweden), Jaakko Aukusti (Finland) & Eliza Shaddad (London)

It’s pretty hard for us here at The Wandering Lamb to believe that our little project for supporting up and coming, little heard or independent artists would already reach it’s 21st edition. For a segment that means so much to us, it’s so encouraging and exciting to hear the wealth of music that arrives in our inbox every day – music of such outstanding quality, uniqueness and potential that we have to share it with you, our dedicated followers. So on that note, it is will great anticipation that we present to you the artists for our special 21st edition of Weaning Lambs! Enjoy!

Weaning Lamb Nocturnal Tapesnocturnaltapes

Track Superficial Light

Kind Of Reminds Us Of Flying Lotus, Jagwar Ma

Based In Yamba, NSW

This track is definitely a slow burner. From the slick, indie/electro opening lined with polished hip hop percussion, wispy vocals and delicate guitar lines, it builds and builds into a dance floor beast – something that would probably blow some brains at 3am at Meredith.

Weaning Lamb Beloved Elk belovedelk

Track The Light of Dead Stars

Kind Of Reminds Us Of Warpaint, early Modest Mouse

Based In Melbourne, Australia

Beloved Elk are a homegrown two piece who have just been picked up by one of our favourite Melbourne indie labels, Listen Records. The band have been making themselves well know with their powerful live performances, and this video will give your just a taste of what to expect. If you’re in Melbourne, make sure to try and catch them live if you can.

Weaning Lamb Chrome Ponychromepony

Track Ragged Child

Kind Of Reminds Us Of 13th Floor Elevators, Youth and Young Mandhood era Kings of Leon

Based In Nashville, TN

Blending a faithful nod to the the great Nuggets era of 60’s psych rock (complete with Hammond organ) blended with a southern rock twang, these guys are on tour now in the UK and Europe in support of their recently released Past Lives EP. This track is sure to go off live.

Weaning Lamb Sofia Härdigsofia_hardig-live-2016-profile-photo1

Track Sitting Still

Kind Of Reminds Us Of Savages, Le Tigre

Based In Stockholm, Sweden

With everything at 11 from the opening second, Sitting Still is a punchy offering of post punk, no wave influenced energy that will make it’s mark wherever it’s heard. Sofia’s commanding vocal backed by an angular, frenetic guitar sounds and a tight as f*&# rhythm section will hopefully be getting her some serious attention in the blogisphere pretty soon.

Weaning Lamb Jaakko AukustiJaakko_Aukusti_5_by_Jelena_Candolin_sm

Track Himalaya

Kind Of Reminds Us Of Passion Pit, Friendly Fires

Based In Turku, Finland

Himilaya is a track that takes you to the mountains – a moving, uplifting electro pop song that swells and dips to finish on a high, leaving the listener feel exactly the same. With galloping drums, lush vocal play and a buoyant synth line, you can find this song on Jaakko’s soon to be released debut album.  This is certainly a song that will leave you feeling a million bucks.

Weaning Lamb Eliza Shaddad unnamed (1)

Track Run

Kind Of Reminds Us Of Mogwai meets Sinead O’Connor

Based In London, UK

Already making some serious waves in the UK, Eliza Shaddad probably doesn’t need much help from us mere Wandering Lambs but we couldn’t help but give this a shout out. Run is a compelling, brooding track that swells from it’s intimate beginnings to burst into the hearts and minds of the listener. Touring in the UK and Europe this March.
