Well here it is! Last week we brought you a special feature article on our Record Store Day highlights from around the world and over the last few days their have been the announcements for all the festivities taking place around Australia (for those in other countries check out the official Record Store Day website). Lamb HQ thought we would make life a little bit easier for you to get involved so we have picked our favorite happenings that urge you to check out.
In a time where we all conveniently rely on downloads and streams to buy and listen to our music (yes, we are one of you too), we need to honour the record store and the importance they play in retaining our musical landscape and for this reason we urge you to get involved. After all, most of it is FREE so what more do you need!
Clarity Records_60 Puletney Street, Adelaide City
Clarity Records will stay open for 24 hours and offer punters 20% off everything in the store along with a handful of T-shirts to choose from. There will be live music starting from 8pm including Weightless, Crash and McQueen.
Blackwood Sound_2-6 Coromandel Parade, Blackwood
Three time ARIA winners The Audrey’s will set up gig at Blackwood Music to play a few songs from their most recent release Til My Tears Roll Away and will hang about afterward for a signing.
Readings_ 112 Ackland Street, St Kilda
Dan Sultan, who is also ambasassador for Record Store Day 2014, will be appearing live at 2pm to play a few songs from his latest album Blackbird. This a free event with no ticket allocation so we would think this will be heaving.
The Evelyn Rooftop_ 351 Brunswick Street, Fitzory
In conjunction with Polyester Records, cult Melbourne band Clag are reforming to play a rare live show and showcase a new single Choose Your Own A-Side, their first recordings since 1995.,There will be support from Full Ugly, Tim Richmond, Ela Stiles. Show starts at 2pm, $12 at the door.
Title Records_ 183 Gertrude St, Fitzory
From 3pm catch these 3 local bands playing live in-store – Wonder Boy, Empat Lima and Chook Race
Rocking Horse_245 Albert St, Brisbane
Ed Kuepper is founder of legendary punk band The Saints will be playing live in-store with support from unique indie popsters The Cairo’s and 80’s inspired synth Laura Hill, aka Scraps.
Tym Guitars_5 Winn Street, Fortitude Valley
Legendary punkster grungers, The Hard-Ons fly into Brisbane for a one-off show and offer their single Girl In A Sweater 7″ single to buy for the day only.
Mojo Record Bar_Basement Level, 73 York St, Sydney
Their will be non-stop partying down in the basement of York street, as the team at Mojo celebrate the day with live Dj’s, giveaways, free jukebox play and drink specials all day.

Villagers – limited edition release of their latest single Occupy Your Mind
Steve Mason (The Beta Band) – limited edition 12″ of two remixed tracks taken from his brilliant solo album Monkey Mind’s in the Devil’s Time
Julia Holter – Californian singer/songwriter releases a very rare 7″ single of 2 covers, Barbara Lewis’ Hello Stranger and Dionne Warwick’s Don’t Make Me Over
GhostBusters – 30 years ago this single was released on a limited edition glow in the dark vinyl, and, you guessed it, it has been pressed for limited distribution.
MGMT – Their two masterful albums will be remastered direct from their original analogue tapes. This are going to be extremely rare indeed.
Broods – Auckland pop brother and sister team will release their debut self-titled album in clear format.
Sky Ferreira – Her acclaimed album Night Time, My Time will be issued on limited pressed vinyl.
The Pixies – Their first new album since 1991’s Trompe Le Monde is out on April 29th. They’ll be releasing a special Record Store Day double-vinyl version of that new album, Indie Cindy.
Foals – Tracks from Foals’ sold out performance at The Royal Albert Hall in London, UK.
Bruce Springsteen – Four previously unreleased songs in 12″ format, American Beauty.
Otis Redding – 50th anniversary reissue of Otis Redding’s 1964 debut studio album in original mono.
Jake Bugg – This talented scouser will be offering a rare live recording of a set in Seattle in 12″ format.
Nirvana – In the wake of Cobain’s death the release of 3rd single from In Utero, the single Pennyroyal Tea was never released but Australia will be the lucky ones who have the chance to get their hands on this fresh pressing as a 7″.
